Liminis Theater
The Liminis Theater, at 2438 Scranton Road , occupies a storefront built in 1911 as an addition to a large brick house built in 1860 when it was converted from a single-family home to an inn. The storefront was a general store and tavern until 1942, when it became a neighborhood bar and the building was used as apartments and a bar under various ownership, until the present resident owner and theatre-company founder bought the badly maintained building from an absentee landlord in August 2000. The apartments have been renovated and the storefront has undergone structural and electrical improvements to be converted into a 40-seat theatre performance space, now known as the Liminis, home to convergence-continuum, Tremont’s resident professional alternative theater company.
convergence-continuum began producing plays in 2002 at the Liminis in an up-close-and-personal style, seeking to immerse its audiences in experiences that fully engage their senses and imaginations, transporting them to the alternative reality of the world of the play. convergence-continuum has received critical and audience acclaim for its plays that take risks and confront conventions -- plays that raise challenging questions in novel, surprising, and even outrageous, ways.
